Paralegal/Legal Assistant

Bryan Schwartz Law is looking for a Paralegal/Legal Assistant!

One of the top plaintiff-side employment law firms in California, Bryan Schwartz Law has received national recognition for its advocacy on behalf of workers in individual and class action, discrimination, misclassification, reasonable accommodation, and wage/hour matters. Our paralegals work closely with attorneys and take on complex tasks such as drafting declarations and helping prepare for depositions. Previous law firm experience and/or a stated interest in future work as a lawyer are not requirements for this position; applicants must, however, be interested in social justice and civil rights, and should be prepared to “roll with the punches” of working in a fast-paced field. We also offer hybrid (remote and in-person) work opportunities.

In addition to the job duties outlined below, our paralegals are encouraged to take on long-term projects in areas of the firm’s work that are of particular interest to them. Past examples of these projects include designing class member outreach websites for our cases and integrating live analytics into our system for managing potential clients. Please note that the following lists are not meant to be exhaustive – each new case and client brings along new challenges, responsibilities, and opportunities!

Job duties include, but are not limited to: 

• Conducting intakes with potential clients
• Perform investigative research related to potential and active cases
• Drafting, filing, and serving legal documents
• Maintaining general contact and communications with clients, class members, counsel, etc.
• Calendar and manage case deadlines
• Scheduling court reporters, depositions, mediations, etc.
• Creating necessary materials for hearings, mediations, and other court appearances
• Summarizing depositions, interrogatories, and testimony
• Discovery/document review
• General office and receptionist duties (as necessary)

Requirements:

• Four-year college degree
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Detail-oriented
• Ability to multitask
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Google applications
• Diversity is valued
• Bilingual skills not required but a plus!
