State Dept Settlement Lowers Barriers for Foreign Service Applicants with Disabilities

The State Department has changed its medical clearance requirements to make it easier for people with disabilities to join the Foreign Service. The department has paid out over $37 million to settle claims of disability discrimination, and the new policy requires applicants to meet a minimum medical qualification standard to serve at designated Regional Medical Evacuation Centers.
