Madina Akanova Jenks is a Joseph V. Kaplan Workers’ Rights Fellow at Bryan Schwartz Law. She is a recipient of the 2024-2025 Joseph V. Kaplan Workers’ Rights Fellowship, intended to train recent law school graduates dedicated to worker justice. Ms. Jenks received a law degree from Harvard Law School. While in law school, Ms. Jenks served in the Harvard Environmental Law Review and worked with the Harvard Immigration and Refugee Clinic to assist individuals who suffered persecution in their home countries with applying for asylum.
She has worked at Catholic Migration Services, where she advocated on behalf of refugees and helped protect them from deportation. She has also worked at the AARP Foundation Litigation to support class action litigation efforts in safeguarding low-income elderly individuals from exploitation and mistreatment.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Jenks aided low-wage individuals as an intern for Legal Action of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, WI, while obtaining her bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and French from Northwestern University. As the daughter of immigrants, Ms. Jenks understood all too well how one’s employment dictates how well they can live their life. Helping individuals resolve these matters favorably can make an enormous difference in their lives and Ms. Jenks seeks to continue to do that work at Bryan Schwartz Law, P.C.
