Turman, et al. v. Koji’s Japan, Inc., Arthur J. Parent, Jr., Civ. No. 30-2010-00425532-CU-OE-CXC (Orange County Superior Court, May 21, 2021) (granting final approval, stating, “The attorneys’ efforts on behalf of the Class, under extremely difficult circumstances after the Defendant restaurants were closed and Defendants filed bankruptcy, yielded an exceptional result for low-wage workers, over Defendants’ vigorous opposition. The Class is recovering $2.2 million from an individual business owner, Defendant Parent, establishing an important precedent allowing workers to recover unpaid wages from some corporate owners, Turman, et al. v. Superior Court (2017) 17 Cal.App.5th 969.”).
