PRESS RELEASE

Bryan Schwartz Law Hires Eric Barba as Summer Associate at the Oakland-Based Civil Rights, Employment Law Firm

May 5, 2010, Oakland -- Bryan Schwartz Law is pleased to announce that Eric Barba has joined the firm as a Summer Associate. Mr. Barba, a student at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) School of Law, is the recipient of the prestigious California Employment Lawyers' Association Diversity Fellowship for 2010.

Mr. Barba recently completed his second year at UCLA's law school, where he is focusing on working with underserved communities whose members are traditionally excluded from the judicial process. He is a coordinator for the El Centro Legal Immigration Detention Center Clinic, where he works with detained immigrants as they seek redress from their pending deportation orders.
A child of immigrants and the first in his family to acquire a college degree, Mr. Barba is deeply passionate about increasing diversity within higher education and the legal profession. Mr. Barba has pursued this passion by serving as a member of the UCLA Committee on Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools, the UC Board of Undergraduate Admissions and Relations with Schools, Admissions Chair for the UCLA School of Law La Raza Law Student Association, and most recently as a member of the UCLA School of Law Admissions Committee.

Mr. Barba stated, "I have decided to dedicate my career to fighting for the rights of employees. Discrimination, wage theft, and other unlawful practices can be devastating to an employee's livelihood and must be punished." He added, "It is an honor to have been selected to serve in such a distinguished practice, where I can pursue these objectives."

Bryan Schwartz, the firm's proprietor, stated, "I am excited to welcome Mr. Barba, whose own compelling personal story is matched by his combination of intelligence, determination, and passion for justice."

Attorney Bryan Schwartz opened the practice in January 2009. Bryan Schwartz Law is dedicated to continuing the struggle for civil rights and equality of employment opportunity and helping Americans from every background to achieve their highest career potential. The firm focuses on individual, class, and collective actions involving discrimination and retaliation, harassment, denied disability accommodations, whistleblower reprisal, wage and hour violations, Federal employees' rights, and severance negotiations.
